I recommend: Desmond Richardson

I have thought for a long time about a person who could be recommended on my blog. In connection to my website I have decided to write about Desmond Richardson. I saw him last year in Poznań and I must tell you that I was at a loss for words... What he did took my breathe away. I bet that now you are dying to get to know who he is! Before I satisfy your curiosity I want you to watch this:

Now, you know :) Desmond is a dancer, a great dancer! His way of dancing is astonishing. When you are watching at his body dancing you think: 'How, on earth, is he doing that'?'. I used to be a dancer and and I know that one has to work up a good sweat to stretch the body, to control it so much and to be in excellent condition. Desmond has it all but what is really amazing about him is the fact that when he dances he tells a story, he shows that it is a piece of art and that it is enough to combine your body and music to create a performance that influences people's feelings.
Apart from the fact that Desmond Ricgardson is a dancer he is also a choreopgrapher, co-founder and artist director of Complexions Contemporary Dance Ballet from New York. This group is very famous and last year I had a chance to saw their performance in Poznań. Some time ago they visited our city once again. I regret that I could not go and see them one more time.
If you want to know something more about Desmond watch this film - it's very interesting!

My future paths...

I wake up at 9 and I open the window. I look at the sea- I'm in Italy where I spend holiday. I've been here for 1 week and still I have seven days to take a rest and relax before I go back to Poland. I'm on my own because I decided that I need to get rid of people who make me sick! I have some holly time to focus on my emotions, nerves, thoughts... People whom I meet at the seaside and in the countryside do not get on my nerves. They are very helpful and smile all the time. Since I relax and sunbathe from dawn till dusk I can exchange greetings (I've learnt a bit Italian so I'm able to understand the natives and I can even make short conversations!). Every day I have breakfast on the beach. I eat rolls with cheese and jam and there is no one to tell me that it's too much or unhealthy! I wear a swimming suit adn I'm happy with the way I look like. You cannot imagine how I enjoy this time! There are no limits and no barriers - finally I breathe! I've needed it so much! It would be a paradise, it could be heaven, but... But I miss my family... I miss my husband and my child :) That's why I wake up at 9 and pack my luggage. I have to go back and try to understand that I do not have take care about other people's opinions and ideas. I have my own life, friends and family that I love the most in the world:) When they're with me I'm the happiest woman :):):):)

O BA MA !!!

Finally I have found time to write a few words about Obama - new American president. I must admit that I am very happy that he is the one who has been elected. Why? Of course a wind of change is blowing in the USA and I really believe that it is a good alteration. Nevertheless, for me the fact that Obama is an African-American is the most crucial. I know that I am not original but in my opinion it can change a lot when it comes to the racial issues. I have recently realised that so many many people declare themselves racists! They do it openly, without shame and even treat as an usual and obious fact. Having learnt a lot about the history of Black Americans, I cannot agree with such an attitude. Therefore, I hope that Obama's presidency will contribute to the people's views on other races and that they will become more tolerant. Since I am not very keen on politics, it is very difficult for me to talk about this field of Obama's presidency (even though it's probably the most important aspect!). I hope that he will be able to establish better relationship with Poland and we will be allowed to go to the USA without visas.
I wish you good lack Barack ;) I'm crossing my fingers!

Me: T-chair :)

To be honest- before I came to KJO I had not wanted to be a teacher, I know that it's a bit strange but still- real. After all I decided that it is not so bad and I can actually try... and now... Yes! I am sure that I can be a teacher and I there is nothing wrong with that. Of course, my teaching pracicte helped me to understand that this is a job for me. I am extremely happy when I see that my students learn new things and that they like the way I teach them. It is an extraordinary feeling! I don't want to say that I do not see any drawbacks of this job but a positive attitude helps to overcome them. All in all, I must admit that my teaching practice contributed to my decision about the future and now I clearly see that being a T-chair is my "destination" :)

Christmas time, mistletoe and...

Childhood memories connected with Christmas? I hale plenty of them! I belong to the group of people who love Christmas and all the trash ascribed to this merry time.
I associate Christmas with family, warmth, extraordinary dishes, smell of gingerbread and spruce, which is very unoriginal but wonderful. Nevertheless, this time I would like to tell a sad story about a day when I found out that Santa Claus does not exist…
I was about 7 or 8 years old and as usually before Christmas I wrote a letter to Santa Claus. I suppose that I desired a Barbie doll or a new set of Lego blocks (I used to be a total Lego freak!). Everything was written down with some help of my sister who was always my backup. The letter in a beautiful envelope landed on the window sill and I waited for Santa Claus to take it. As in every year the letter mysteriously disappeared and I was glad that Santa was going to give me the right gift. Unfortunately, after few days I found my letter in my sister’s closet. I couldn’t believe! I thought that she took that letter away because she envious of my wishes and that she didn’t want Santa to read about them! I was really ready to quarrel over that! Eventually, my parents and my sister helped me to realize that Santa Claus is not real and that he is only a part of Christmas mystery…
Since then I’ve been aware of the fact that Santa Claus is not a living man with a huge bag but I believe that Christmas time is so special that almost everything is possible… Even people use their human voices…

My problem with favourite music

My favourite music… This is one of those topics which are discussed when we meet a new person. Somehow, it is believed that in this way we may learn something important about this person. It might be true but I really hate the question about the music I love. It’s not that I don’t have my preference in this field but the case is that it frequently changes. There are many reasons for that. Usually, it is my mood that determines the kind of music I listen to. I also tend to forget about some bands or singers and after some time of this blackout I rediscover them and treat as my best. It has always been like that so let me present my favourite pieces of music- at least for the time being:)

I would like to start with pop music of the 80s and 90s. I’ve always had a weakness for this music and I think it’s due to the fact that I am a passionate dancer and La Bouche, Snap just make you dance and there is nothing you can do about it. You must love it as I do!!!

Now, my true love- Michael Jackson! People may say things, they may gossip- but I DON’T CARE!!! Do you know why? Because Michael is a genius! He’s a real king of pop music. After Michael there hasn’t been an artist who can produce such a rhythm, beat, groove that is so recognisable, catchy, extraordinary, breathtaking even.

I don’t want you to think that I’m a shallow person and listen to only undemanding pop songs:) Therefore, I would like to share with you a piece of music by a wonderful Scottish composer- Craig Armstrong. There is no point in talking about his music, it’s enough to listen… Just close your eyes and let your imagination work for you… Enjoy…

Szczecinek- my hometown

I suppose that almost everyone who has ever visited Mielno (at the seaside) knows where Szczecinek is situated:) Of course, there are some others who think that Szczecinek is a small Szczecin- I must put it right- it is NOT!
I have to admit that my hometown has gone through a remerkable change. If I were to write something about Szczecinek about three years ago I would defenitely state that it's all rubbish. Whereas now, I feel obliged to say that it is one of the most rapidly developing towns in Poland- of course I think about the towns of a similar size. Now, each time I go home I am so supprised that a new hotel has been built, that three brand new shopping centres are about to open (the design of one is based on the Old Brewer:) ). All the changes were brought by the new mayor who was elected 2 years ago. And again the rule is confirmed that when there is a good host everything may be improved- even Szczecinek. Before our new mayor appeared the town was sad, it looked depressing, all young people wanted to free from the place where there was no job available, no higher education, no perspectives. Now, the situation has completely reversed! Because of investements from abroad new companies have opened and there is job for almost everyone. It is possible to study at the branch of some universities, e.g. at Pomorska Akademia Medyczna (even my mother- who is not so young- decided to become a student). Apart from the bigger, more global changes, there is a number of small, very local improvements. Szczecinek is very clean, alsmot everywhere you can find lawns, flowers, park benches, etc. Very nice surrounding:)
Now, I would like to talk about something that has always been in Szczecinek- a park. In fact, my town is situated between two wonderful lakes, and one of them is actually in the centre of the town. The lake is rounded by the beautiful park where you can ride a bike, take a walk (with your dog), feed ducks and swans, sunbathe and swim (in the summer). Moreover, since last summer Szczecinek offers the most unique attraction in Poland- water skiing! We have the longest waterskis lift in Europe!!! It is amazing! I really recommend that you come and try because it is a great fun. What is more, it is not so expensive:)
When I read what I've written I realised that it is like a commercial:) In fact that is how I cosider my hometown right now. I belive that it is a big chance for Szczecinek to develop and become a strong town which is able to maintain itself and it won't be only a point on the map on your way to Mielno but is also will be a place where you stop because it a paradise for tourists and a wonderful place to live in.
Thank you.
