Szczecinek- my hometown

I suppose that almost everyone who has ever visited Mielno (at the seaside) knows where Szczecinek is situated:) Of course, there are some others who think that Szczecinek is a small Szczecin- I must put it right- it is NOT!
I have to admit that my hometown has gone through a remerkable change. If I were to write something about Szczecinek about three years ago I would defenitely state that it's all rubbish. Whereas now, I feel obliged to say that it is one of the most rapidly developing towns in Poland- of course I think about the towns of a similar size. Now, each time I go home I am so supprised that a new hotel has been built, that three brand new shopping centres are about to open (the design of one is based on the Old Brewer:) ). All the changes were brought by the new mayor who was elected 2 years ago. And again the rule is confirmed that when there is a good host everything may be improved- even Szczecinek. Before our new mayor appeared the town was sad, it looked depressing, all young people wanted to free from the place where there was no job available, no higher education, no perspectives. Now, the situation has completely reversed! Because of investements from abroad new companies have opened and there is job for almost everyone. It is possible to study at the branch of some universities, e.g. at Pomorska Akademia Medyczna (even my mother- who is not so young- decided to become a student). Apart from the bigger, more global changes, there is a number of small, very local improvements. Szczecinek is very clean, alsmot everywhere you can find lawns, flowers, park benches, etc. Very nice surrounding:)
Now, I would like to talk about something that has always been in Szczecinek- a park. In fact, my town is situated between two wonderful lakes, and one of them is actually in the centre of the town. The lake is rounded by the beautiful park where you can ride a bike, take a walk (with your dog), feed ducks and swans, sunbathe and swim (in the summer). Moreover, since last summer Szczecinek offers the most unique attraction in Poland- water skiing! We have the longest waterskis lift in Europe!!! It is amazing! I really recommend that you come and try because it is a great fun. What is more, it is not so expensive:)
When I read what I've written I realised that it is like a commercial:) In fact that is how I cosider my hometown right now. I belive that it is a big chance for Szczecinek to develop and become a strong town which is able to maintain itself and it won't be only a point on the map on your way to Mielno but is also will be a place where you stop because it a paradise for tourists and a wonderful place to live in.
Thank you.
